A Buddhist Conference to be held at Ven. Dhammasami's old College at Oxford (14 June 2007)
The United Kingdom Association of Buddhist Studies, UKABS (www.sunderland.ac.uk/~os0dwe/bsa.shtml), is to hold its annual conference at St. Anne's College (www.st-annes.ox.ac.uk), University of Oxford this year. The conference will take place on 6-8 July. Please find out details from this UKABS Poster.
The theme of the conference is related to the doctoral dissertation of Ven. Dhammasami, the teaching of Buddhism at the higher education level. (see the UKABS flier) The venerable will be one of the panelists discussing the theme on 7th July. Other panelists include scholars from Budapest Buddhist University, Hungary and a Buddhist institute from Fudenji, Italy.
Prof. Richard Gombrich who was the supervisor of Ven. Dhammasami's dcotoral work is the current Chairman of the UKABS. The association draws its members from all UK universities and holds an annual conference in July. It publishes once a year a journal Buddhist Studies Review and Ven. Dhammasami is on the Editorial Committee.
