OBV Special Celebration on Sunday 27th June
Dear devotees, supporters and friends of OBV,
We, the Trustees of OBV, wish to invite you all to a very special celebration at the new Oxford Buddha Vihara (OBV), 356-358 Abingdon Road, Oxford OX1 4TQ, on Sunday 27 June 2010 from 10.30-16:00 hrs.
The celebration is to thank all our supporters and well wishers, both far and near, for their generous monetary donations, unstinting support and encouragement in various ways that have resulted in the OBV’s success. We would sincerely like you to attend this celebration which also marks the anniversary of the move to the new Vihara so that you can see what you have helped develop and establish – the first Theravada Buddhist monastery in Oxford.
In line with our tradition and practice, we will be providing Dana to the Bikkhus, and lunch to all who attend the ceremony. However, you are welcome to bring any food you might wish to offer to the monks and share with everyone. As part of the ceremony, there will be chantings, blessings and sermons by the venerable monks, presentation of donations to the Sangha, and merit sharing. The details of the ceremony will be provided on the day.
Please feel free to contact us and send in your suggestions on what you would like to do or what else we can do on the day. We will try our best to accommodate your wishes.
Please bear in mind that on that day, visitors are requested to park their cars in the Redbridge Park and Ride which is a 5 minute walk from the Vihara, and only those cars bringing in devotees with mobility problems will be allowed into the driveway to let passengers off or on, and to unload or load heavy stuff. Please contact Dr Saeng Pannyawamsa at the OBV by phone or email if you are able to come so that we can have an idea of the numbers attending.

How to Reach Us
From the North
1) Take M40 down south and leave at Junction 9
2) Take 3rd exit at roundabout and follow A34 to Oxford (6.4 miles)
3) Take the exit toward A40/A423/M40/Cowley/Henley/Ring Road
4) At the roundabout, take the 1st exit onto A4074/Southern Bypass Road heading to A40/A423/M40/Cowley/Henley/Ring Road
5) At next roundabout, take the 1st exit (a sign will show Redbridge Park and Ride) onto A4144/Abingdon Road
6) Go pass Redbridge Park and Ride on Abingdon Road and the OBV is on the left about 0.4 mile from the roundabout.
From the South
1) Take M40 up north and leave at Junction 8
2) Follow A40 to Oxford (about 4.5 miles)
3) Slight left at A40 and turn left to stay on A40
4) Slight left at A4142 (follow signs for Cowley/Ring Road/A4142)
5) At the roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto A4074 heading to Abingdon/Oxford
6) At the next roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto A4144/Abingdon Road (a sign will show Redbridge Park and Ride) onto A4144/Abingdon Road
7) Go pass Redbridge Park and Ride on Abingdon Road and the OBV is on the left about 0.4 mile from the roundabout.
