The First OBV Branch Open in Singapore!

The Oxford Buddha Vihara (Singapore)(OBVS) was registered with the government of the Republic of Singapore in April 2009; declared open by the Chief Abbot of the OBV from England, on the 9th May 2009, the official Vesak Holiday (in Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia). .

The Chief Abbot, Ven. Dr. Khammai Dhammasami, has already conducted a weekend meditation retreat on 16th – 17th May 2009.

The OBVS is conducting a special charity ceremony of the Ratana Sutta for one thousand times; each day for 45 times or approximately 6 hours, for 23 days. This sutta, describing the specific and special qualities of the triple gems, is normally recited to ward off three kinds of evils such as epidemic, misfortune and economic difficulties.

All are welcome to join the chanting, which takes place twice daily: 7:30 am – 10:30 am and 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm. The chanting books in Romanised alphabets, Thai, Burmese and Chinese alphabets are available for any one joining the chanting. If you cannot join every day, you may choose to join the time of your convenience. You may also sponsor the chanting on any day of your choice.
